Bringing AI-driven rApps and xApps to the Rakuten Telecom Platform

At MWC Barcelona 2024, zTouch Networks announced a collaboration with Rakuten Symphony to launch its AI-powered rApps and xApps portfolio integrated with Rakuten Symphony's Service Management and Orchestration (SMO) and Open RAN Intelligent Controller (RIC) platforms. The integration brings zTouch.OS's AI-driven automation framework into the Rakuten Telecom Platform — the first telecom marketplace for RICs and SMOs — accelerating procurement and deployment of intelligent telco services as 5G rollouts scale.

Shared focus: intent-based ops, energy efficiency, LLM-driven UX

zTouch Networks and Rakuten Symphony are jointly building toward fully autonomous networks, with shared focus on intent-based orchestration, LLMs for zero-touch user interfaces, profit-aware traffic prioritization, and energy-efficient operations. xApps developed under the partnership monitor cell traffic in near real time and use machine learning to interpret historical traffic patterns, dynamically adjusting antenna configurations to save energy in Rakuten Mobile's network in Japan without impacting subscriber experience.
